Ms. Yamuna Menon


In a record-setting event, IDIA Scholar and NLSIU Graduate of 2020 Ms. Yamuna Menon bagged 18 Gold Medals at the 18th NLSIU Annual Convocation of 2020. She is the topper and Gold medalist of the class of 2020 along with other 17 Gold medals (total of 18 medals out of 38 medals). Among these are the prizes for the Best Outgoing Student, Best Outgoing Undergraduate Student, and Best Outgoing Female Student, apart from her first rank gold.

She received medals in the following categories-

i) Indira Khaitan Medal for University First Rank (donated by Mr. Suman J. Khaitan, Advocate, New Delhi).
ii) Justice V. Govindarajachari Medal for Meritorious Student (donated by Mr. Srinivas and Late Shri. V. Ramanujachari, Hyderabad).
iii) Shri S.K. Venkatarangiengar Medal for the outstanding graduating student (donated by Shri S.V. Rangaswamy, Former Professor, IISc, Bangalore).
iv) Sarala Birla Medal for the overall topper (donated by the Birla Sanskriti Trust, Kolkata).
v) Shanbogue Ragavendra Rao and Subbalakshamma Memorial Medal for Best Outgoing Student (donated by Mrs. & Mr. S.R.R.K. Sharma, Chartered Accountants, Bangalore.
vi) Late Shri S.C. Javali Medal to the Best Outgoing UnderGraduate Student (donated by Smt. Lata, D/o. Shri S.C. Javali and Mr. P.U. Bhavikatti, IOFS (Retd.).
vii) Ms. Anuradha N. Memorial Medal for Best Outgoing Female Student sponsored by LEGAL EXCEL – Advocates, Solicitors and Health Care Consultants.

xv) Corporation Bank Gold Medal for securing highest marks in Banking Law (donated by the Corporation Bank, Corporate Office, Mangalore).
xvi) Justice P. Govinda Menon Medal for Best All-Round Graduating Student (donated by Mr. & Mrs. M. Sankaranarayanan, Former Chief Secretary, Karnataka.
xvii) Shri K.I. Bhatta Memorial Medal for Most Deserving Female Student (donated by Shri Shankar H. Pathak).

Ms. Menon is part of the IDIA Kerala chapter, and got in touch with the Chapter after coming across a newspaper article on the Trust and its objective to 'Increase Diversity by Increasing Access'. As IDIA Scholar she cracked the Common Law Admissions Test (CLAT) with the 28th rank and joined NLSIU undergraduate program. She is a brilliant scholar and has served as Editor-in-Chief of the Indian Journal of International Economic Law. She is going to Cambridge University for her masters.
