In the brutal Hathras rape and murder case of a 19-year-old Dalit woman alleged by four upper-caste men, a plea filed by a social activist Satyama Dubey before the Hon’ble Supreme Court demanding an investigation by either CBI or a Special Investigation Team. Furthermore, the plea seeks to transfer this matter from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi for the alleged failure of the State Government to take action against the accused persons.

According to news reports, on September 14th a 19-year-old Dalit woman was abducted and then gang-raped by four upper-caste men and then brutally tortured by breaking her bones and cutting off her tongue. She was admitted to Aligarh Muslim University's Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital and afterward been referred and shifted to Safdarjung Hospital. She passed away on Tuesday, 29th September, and was cremated by the police officials in the middle of the night without the consent of her family. The plea says that the police officials have not performed their duty and are shielding the accused which is a grave injustice against the family of the dead. Moreover, the family of the victim is being victimized by upper-caste persons.

In view of the above, it seeks directions to the Union of India and concerned authorities for a fair investigation and to transfer the case to CBI or to form an SIT under a sitting/retired Judge of the Supreme Court/High Court.

Lastly, it requests for transfer of trial from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh to Delhi, and for a rapid trial of the case.
