About IFIM

IFIM Law School, is an institution imparting quality legal education, is a part of the IFIM Institutions, Bengaluru and is affiliated to the Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) and is approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI). IFIM Law School boasts of a robust Moot Court Committee (MCC), which is always dedicated in providing a meaningful platform to all the students concerned. The MCC actively organizes moot court competitions, training workshops, seminars/webinars and related events for internal as well as external Law Students. The MCC is determined and focused in bringing together both enthusiastic students as participants, as well as experienced judges, in one platform, for a memorable experience during their Law School journey.

What is Judgement Writing?

The concept of Judgement Writing has been prevalent for quite some time in the legal fraternity. The objective of the participants will be to envisage a given situation from the lens of a Judge, apply the law and render a suitable judgment. A participant is encouraged to think like a Judge and reach a well-reasoned and innovative conclusion.

Who can Apply?

  • The Participant should be currently pursuing their Bachelor’s Degree in Law i.e. 3- Year L.L.B. course or 5-Year Integrated law course from any recognized University/Law School.
  • There is no restriction on the number of entries from any Law School or University.
  • Only individual participation is allowed.

  • After making the payment, the Participant needs to fill up the Registration Form which is available Here.
  • A confirmation email will be sent to the Participant after registration along with a Unique Registration Code.
Procedure of the Competition 
  • The Problem (including facts, issues & arguments from both sides) will be shared with the Participant.
  • The event will be held online, due to the current pandemic situation.
  • The competition will be held on Zoom and will be monitored by the organizing committee of the
  • Host Institute.
  • No E-resources will be provided from the Host Institute.
  • A Total of 1 Hour 45 minutes will be alotted to the Participant to complete their judgement and email their entry as per the submission guidelines.
  • The Participant should enter the Zoom Meeting starting 10:45 AM. The participants are allowed to join till 11:00 AM sharp. Post 11:00 AM, no entries would be entertained.
  • The Problem will be shared with the Participant at 11:00 AM.
Submission Guidelines
  • The Submission, as submitted must be an original work of the Participant and must not have been submitted or published elsewhere.
  • Any sort of plagiarism shall and will amount to penalty.
  • Word Limit – 2500 Words (exclusive of footnotes)
  • The Submission must not disclose the identity of the Participant or any other personal details, E.g. Name of the Institution.
  • The Participant shall submit a separate cover letter containing the details of the Participant. Details shall include Name of the Participant, Name of the Institution, Email ID & Phone Number 
  • The name of the file shall be named in the following format “Cover Letter – IFIM NJWC” “Submission – IFIM NJWC”
  • All the required documents (Cover Letter and Judgement Writing Submission) must be submitted in MS-Word file and should be e-mailed to mcc@ifim.edu.in with the subject as - “ IFIM NJWC - Manuscript Submission <Registration Code> ”.
Formatting Guidelines
  • The author shall strictly adhere to the 20th Edition of Bluebook.
  • The manuscript shall be in A4 layout with 1.5 line spacing and justified.
  • Headings- Times New Roman – 14 – Bold.
  • Main Body- Times New Roman – 12.
  • Footnotes – Times New Roman – 10, Line spacing 1.0 and justified.
Anonymity
Each Participant will be provided with a unique code upon registration. The identity of the Participant shall not be disclosed at any stage; such disclosure shall invite penalties including disqualification. The decision for the same shall be at the discretion of the organizing committee
