*OC1 - Open Competition 

*OC 2 - Orthopedically Handicapped [lower portion of the body]

*SEBC - Socially and Educationally Backward Classes.

*SC - Scheduled Caste

*ST - Scheduled Tribes

*(W)- Seats of Female Candidates

Note:- 11-3(W) means 3 seats out of 11 are reserved for women


There are 3 phases in the Telangana Judicial Services Recruitment 

Phase I: Preliminary Examination {Computer Based}

  • Number of Papers – 1 
  • Subjects- Law
  • Paper Type- Objective
  • Duration – 2 hours
  • Maximum Marks- 100
  • Number of Questions- 100
  • Minimum marks- 40
  • Syllabus- same as the main exam. 

Phase II: Written Examination (Main Examination)

  • Number of papers – 3 
  • Subjects – Civil [paper 1], Criminal [paper 2] and English [paper 3]
  • Paper type – Subjective
  • Duration – Each paper 3 hours 
  • Maximum marks – 100 for each paper and for English 70 for essay and 30 for translation from English to either Hindi or Telugu.
  • Number of questions – 100 for both civil and criminal papers.
  • Minimum Marks – 60% of marks in both paper I and II and 40% of marks for paper III(English)

Phase III: Viva – Voce 

  • Viva – Voce shall carry 50 marks.

        Eligibility for Viva-voce

  • The candidates who secured 60% of marks in papers I and II of the main examination 
  • The SC and ST who secured not less than 50% of marks in paper I and II of the main examination.

  • On the basis of following subjects the suitability of the candidate is assessed;

    • mental alertness
    • knowledge of law
    • clear and logical exposition
    • balance of judgment
    • skills, attitude, ethics
    • power of assimilation
    • power of communication
    • character and intellectual depth
    • like of the candidate.

Note: For the final result, the marks in the main examination [paper I and II] and viva-voce shall be considered.
