National Anthem gets an indigenous touch
Ahead of the 50th anniversary of Meghalaya’s Statehood in 2022, the State Assembly has given an indigenous touch to the National Anthem.
Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh had thought of giving ‘Jana Gana Mana’ a local flavour more than six months ago. The Anthem sung by non-Hindi speakers to the accompaniment of folk instruments would underline the country’s diversity, he felt.
HC grants bail to two, refuses two others in Ratan Lal case

Delhi HC ask government decide on petition to Allow Visitor in Place of Worship
Justice D.N Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh of the Delhi High Court asked the AAP government to take a decision on a representation seeking that visitors to religious places be allowed, subject to strict compliance of COVID19 protocol while hearing the petition of NGO Distress Management Collective.
Advocate Robin Raju, appearing for the NGO, contended that despite the reopening of markets, malls, gyms and spas in view of a “significant drop” in cases of COVID19, the Delhi government continues to prohibit visitors from places of worship.
Delhi HC ask time from Centre Government to fill up PMLA Appellate Tribunal
Delhi HC asked for time to fill up the vacancies for chairperson and other members at ATPMLA (Appellate Tribunal Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002).
The Delhi HC responded “In the interest of justice, respondents [Centre] are granted two weeks’ time to file the status report clearly stating the time frame within which it proposes to make the tribunal functional.”
Supreme Court on Rehabilitation to Khori Gaon
SC asked Faridabad Municipal Corporation to frame a provisional scheme for rehabilitation of residents placed in khori gaon demolition.
The court said eligible applicants should receive provisional allotment letters within a week of their application. The letter should clearly convey that the allotment was only temporary until the final draw of lots and scrutiny of all the applications.
In the previous hearing, the court had made it clear that its primary focus was on the rehabilitation of eligible people who had lost their homes to the demolition.

NHRC issue Notice on Farmer Protest
NHRC issued Notice to farmer protest in UP, DELHI, RAJASTHAN AND HARYANA on complaint of Industrial Unit and Transportations disturbance.
The panel called upon the Jhajjar District Magistrate to file a report by October 10 regarding the payment of compensation to the family of an activist who was allegedly sexually assaulted at the protest site.
It had also sought reports from the National Disaster Management Authority, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Union Ministry of Health on the adverse impact on COVID-19 protocols at the protest sites.
Don’t want to reopen order on quota in job promotion: SC
The Supreme Court on Tuesday said it was not ready to reopen a debate on its judgments granting reservation in promotion in government jobs to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
In a 2018 judgment, a Constitution Bench led by then Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, modified a 2006 judgment that required the State to show quantifiable data to prove the “backwardness” of a Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe community in order to provide quota in promotion in public employment.
Justice Rao also said, “We are not here to advise the government what they should do. It is not for us to tell the government how to implement policy.
Modi to visit U.S. for Quad summit, UNGA next week
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the White House on September 24 to participate in a Quad leaders summit hosted by the U.S. President Joe Biden.
Mr. Modi will then travel to New York, where he will address the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Saturday morning.
The Quad meeting of Mr. Modi, Mr. Biden and the Prime Minister Of Japan and Australia Yoshihide Suga and Scott Morrison, is the first in person meeting of its kind at the White House.
