Allahabad High Court refuses to quash FIR against Urdu Poet for comparing Valmiki with Taliban
In Munnawar Rana vs. State of UP case, Rana was charged under Sections 153-A, 295-A and 505(1)(b) of Indian Penal Code and Section 3(1)(v) of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities Act), 1989 (Amendment, 2015).
An FIR was lodged by the President of Samajik Sarokar Foundation (UP) alleging that Rana had drawn a comparison of Lord Valmiki with Taliban
The Court refused to dismiss the FIR initiated against him as he is guilty of making derogatory statements.
Enact a Bill on Tort Law and fill Law Commission Vacancies: SC
The Government should reconsider the Liability in Tort Law Bill which was introduced in 1967.
The Court ordered the Central Government to appoint the Chairman and Members of the Law Commission of India within 3 months.
Also added that a Nodal officer to be appointed in each government department who is well-versed with law.
Delhi High Court rejects the bail application
Delhi High Court rejects the bail application of one hotel owner by stating that, "the man, who is the owner of the hotel and resides at the same place, cannot say that he was not aware of what was going on in his hotel and he cannot put the entire blame on the staffer of the hotel.”
The court, while hearing a bail application, observed that “it is not the job of (the) police to meddle with civil disputes and police officials cannot be given (the) licence to meddle with the civil disputes”.
The Supreme Court slammed the Central Government for not filling up the vacancies in Tribunals
The Supreme Court criticised the Union Government for the delay in filling up of the vacancies in the tribunals and also passing of the Tribunal Reforms Act.
The Court held that the ‘Tribunals Act is virtually a replica of the provisions struck down by this Court in the Madras Bar Association".
The Court pronounced that "the Centre doesn't want to respect the judgements of the Court".
The Court also added that they have the following three options. The first option is to stay the Tribunal Reforms Act; or to close down the tribunals or they themselves appoint the people; or The next option is to initiate Contempt of courts Act.

Mohammad Altaf Mohand & Anr.| Special Leave Petition (Criminal) Diary No(S). 45871/2019 case, the Supreme Court has asked the CBI Director for the year-wise data on the cases under prosecution, a timeline of pending cases and the percentage of convictions.
The Supreme Court of India issued a notice to the Central Government, 4 High Courts, Bar Council of India (BCI) and the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) to decide whether to hear the cases in physical or virtual mode; whichever is convenient.
The Apex Court imposed a fine for stalling the appointment of one High Court Judge
In B. Sailesh Saxena vs. The Union of India case, the Apex Court imposed a cost of ₹5,00,000 on the lawyer B. Sailesh Saxena for filing a petition to stall the appointment of Telangana High Court Registrar Venkateswara Reddy as a High Court Judge.

In, B Ramkumar Adityan v. Secretary, MHA and ors. case, the Madras High Court on Monday issued notice in a public interest litigation (PIL) petition calling for directions so that people are not only identified by their father’s name in forms, government documents, court affidavits etc. but rather an option is given to furnish mother’s name or the single parent’s name as well.
Farmer Protests: Supreme Court declines to entertain plea to clear Singhu border
The petition filed by certain residents of Sonipat in Haryana is dismissed by the Supreme Court where the petition is filed for seeking directions to clear the Singhu border which is currently occupied by the farmers who are protesting against the farm laws enacted by the State Government as it causes hindrances while travelling for essential needs. The Court quoted, “There is no need for us to intervene when High Courts are well versed with the local conditions and what is happening “.
