About National Forensic Sciences University

The National Forensic Sciences University (erstwhile Gujarat Forensic Sciences University) is the world’s first and only University dedicated to Forensic and allied Sciences. It was established with an objective to facilitate and promote studies and research and to achieve excellence in the field of forensic science in conjunction with applied behavioral science studies. Considering the role, importance and contribution of erstwhile GFSU, the GOI elevated GFSU as NFSU under the Ministry of Home Affairs and also accorded a special status of “An Institution of National Importance” with effect from October 1, 2020.

 About School of Law, Forensic Justice and Policy Studies

The School of Law, Forensic Justice and Policy Studies has been established with the aim of imparting professional education with a special focus of forensic application in all allied areas of law and policy framework. The school aspired to be the leading provider of forensic justice understanding to all professionals from different areas of governance including justice administration. 

About National Commission for Women 

The National Commission for Women was set up as statutory body in January 1992 under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990 ( Act No. 20 of 1990 of Govt. of India ) to review the Constitutional and Legal safeguards for women ;recommend remedial legislative measures; facilitate redressal of grievances and advise the Government on all policy matters affecting women. In keeping with its mandate, the Commission initiated various steps to improve the status of women and worked for their economic empowerment during the year under report. The Commission completed its visits to all the States/UTs except Lakshadweep and prepared Gender Profiles to assess the status of women and their empowerment.

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION 

Theme “Deconstructing the Contours of Women’s Rights in Marriage” 

Poetry, Posters, Short Articles are invited from students of Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Research Scholars and Academicians on the following sub themes:- 

  • The Conundrum of Age: Consent in Marriage 
  • Understanding the evolution of individual autonomy, through judicial pronouncement. 
  • Conceptual iron cage of the public/private binary. 
  • Role of law in prevention/elimination of violence against women. 
  • Woman Empowerment and domestic violence. 
  • Psychological and emotional effects of abusive relationship 
  • Global scenario of violence against women and international efforts to eliminate violence against women 
Any other topic related to theme. 

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES 

  • Poster
  • Poster size: 48x36 inches, portrait format (vertical) 
  • The posters must be written in English. 
  • Posters must be submitted in soft copy. 
  • The presentation must cover the same material as the abstract submitted.
  • Poetry 

  • Submissions are open to any poet writing in English—other languages are okay to include. 
  • We welcome unsolicited submissions of poetry, original or in translation 
  • Out of respect for our volunteer readers, we request that you include a content warning if your work references or depicts personal or historical trauma (including violence, genocide, assault, abuse etc). 
  • When submitting translations, please submit the originals alongside the translations, and be sure you hold the rights to print the originals. 
  • We like both free verse and traditional forms—we try to have a representative mix of what we receive.
  • Submissions must be typed and single spaced (double spaces will be interpreted as blank lines). 
  • Submissions of visual poetry or concrete poetry should be submitted in PDF format. 
  • Submissions must include the poet’s name, email address, and mailing address on each page. 
  • Short Articles 

  • The length of articles should be between 700-1000 words, excluding an abstract. 
  • References should conform to the APA style. 
  • Font should be 12-point Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing whether in normal, bold, or italic. Please do not insert line breaks in the text or special spacing for formatting. 
  • The paragraph break should be indicated by an extra line space rather than an indentation at the beginning of a paragraph.
