Age Relaxation To Upsc Aspirants ( MAR 30, 2022 )

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said that representations have been received from the Civil Services Examination (CSE) aspirants regarding grant of age relaxation and extra attempt to the candidates in CSE due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today, Dr Jitendra Singh said, this issue had also been brought before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India vide Writ Petitions filed by the CSE aspirants and based on the judgements passed by the Hon'ble Apex Court, the matter has been considered and it has not been found feasible to change the existing provisions regarding number of attempts and age-limit in respect of the Civil Services Examination.

Sale of Electoral Bonds at Authorized Branches of State Bank of India (SBI) ( 30 MAR 2022 )

Government of India has notified the Electoral Bond Scheme 2018 vide Gazette Notification No. 20 dated 02nd January 2018. As per provisions of the Scheme, Electoral Bonds may be purchased by a person (as defined in item No. 2 (d) of Gazette Notification), who is a citizen of India or incorporated or established in India. A person being an individual can buy Electoral Bonds, either singly or jointly with other individuals. Only the Political Parties registered under Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951) and which secured not less than one per cent of the votes polled in the last General Election to the House of the People or the Legislative Assembly of the State, shall be eligible to receive the Electoral Bonds. The Electoral Bonds shall be encashed by an eligible Political Party only through a Bank account with the Authorized Bank.

State Bank of India (SBI), in the XXth  Phase of sale, has been authorised to issue and encash Electoral Bonds through its 29 Authorized Branches ( as per list enclosed)  w.e.f. 01.04.2022 to 10.04.2022.

The Electoral Bonds shall be valid for fifteen calendar days from the date of issue and no payment shall be made to any payee Political Party if the Electoral Bond is deposited after expiry of the validity period. The Electoral Bond deposited by an eligible Political Party in its account shall be credited on the same day.

Govt infused capital of Rs 2,86,043 cr in PSBs during last five years: MoS Finance ( MAR 30, 2022 )

The government has infused capital amounting to Rs 2,86,043 crore in public sector banks (PSBs) during the last five years and they are sufficiently capitalised, Parliament was informed on Tuesday.

 The government infused about Rs 3 lakh crore between 2017-18 and 2021-22. As per inputs received from Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Capital to Risk-weighted Assets Ratio (CRAR) of PSBs has improved substantially over the past three years, increasing from 12.20 per cent at the end of 2018-19 to 14.34 per cent as on December 31, 2021, Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat K Karad said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.

SEBI Circular 

Timelines for Rebalancing of Portfolios of Mutual Fund Schemes  ( MAR 30, 2022 )

In order to bring uniformity across Mutual Funds with respect to timelines for rebalancing of portfolio, the following has been decided.

This circular is issued in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 11 (1) of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992, read with the provision of Regulation 77 of SEBI (Mutual Funds) Regulations, 1996.

The above mentioned norms shall be applicable to main portfolio only and not to segregated portfolio(s), if any and shall be effective from July 01, 2022.

Supreme Court To Resume Physical Hearing Of Cases From April 4 ( MAR 30, 2022 )

Chief Justice of India NV Ramana today said the Supreme Court will commence physical hearing of cases from April 4. The announcement from the Chief Justice came before the commencement of proceedings in the Supreme Court for the day.

 "Monday and Friday we will provide links (for virtual hearing) if advocates want," Chief Justice Ramana said.
