India gets the highest annual FDI inflow of USD 83.57 billion in FY21-22 (MAY 20, 2022)
India has recorded highest ever annual FDI inflow of USD 83.57 billion in the Financial Year 2021-22. In 2014-2015, FDI inflow in India stood at mere 45.15 USD billion as compared to the highest ever annual FDI inflow of USD 83.57 billion reported during the financial year 2021-22 overtaking last year’s FDI by USD 1.60 billion despite military operation in Ukraine and COVID-19 pandemic. India’s FDI inflows have increased 20-fold since FY03-04, when the inflows were USD 4.3 billion only.
Further, India is rapidly emerging as a preferred country for foreign investments in the manufacturing sector. FDI Equity inflow in Manufacturing Sectors have increased by 76% in FY 2021-22 (USD 21.34 billion) compared to previous FY 2020-21 (USD 12.09 billion).
SEBI
Modification in Cyber Security and Cyber Resilience framework of Stock Exchanges, Clearing Corporations and Depositories (MAY 20, 2022)
SEBI vide circular no. SEBI/CIR/MRD/DP/13/2015 dated July 06, 2015 prescribed framework for Cyber Security and Cyber Resilience for stock exchanges, clearing corporations and depositories. In partial modification to Annexure A of SEBI circular dated July 06, 2015, the paragraph-11, 40, 41 and 42 have been amended.
Further, the MIIs are mandated to conduct comprehensive cyber audit at least 2 times in a financial year. Along with the Cyber audit reports, henceforth, all MIIs are directed to submit a declaration from the MD/ CEO certifying compliance by the MII with all SEBI Circulars and advisories related to Cyber security issued from time to time. All MIIs are directed to communicate the status of the implementation of the provisions of this circular to SEBI within 10 days from the date of this Circular.
This circular is being issued in exercise of powers conferred under Section 11 (1) of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992.
SUPREME COURT
Supreme Court to set up 25 special courts to study 33 lakh pending cheque bounce cases (MAY 20, 2022)
Against the backdrop of more than 33 lakh cheque bounce cases that burdens the judicial docket, the Supreme Court on Thursday gave a green signal to a pilot study to set up 25 special courts headed by retired judicial officers exclusively to deal with these cases in the states of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh.
It said the special courts would adjudicate upon only those cases in which summons have been duly served and the accused has entered appearance through a lawyer or in person.

Food Safety and Standards (Packaging) Amendment Regulations, 2022 (May 17, 2022)
Food Safety and Standards Authority of India issued draft regulations to amend the Food Safety and Standards (Packaging) Regulations, 2018. The amendment seeks to amend regulation 4(e) of these regulations. The said regulation provides that Products made of recycled plastics including carry bags shall not be used for packaging, storing, carrying or dispensing articles of food.

RBI to pay Rs 30,307 crore dividend to govt for FY22 (MAY 20, 2022)
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday said its board has approved a dividend payment of Rs 30,307 crore to the government for the financial ended March 2022. The board approved the transfer of Rs 30,307 crore as surplus to the central government for the accounting year 2021-22 while deciding to maintain the Contingency Risk Buffer at 5.50 per cent, RBI said in a statement.
The decision on the dividend payment was made in the 596th meeting of the Central Board of Directors of RBI, headed by Governor Shaktikanta Das, held on Friday.

It may also be used to bring a person in custody before the court to give testimony, or to be prosecuted.
