PM to address the inaugural session of Joint Conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices of High Courts on 30th April (APR 29,2022)
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will participate in the inaugural session of the Joint Conference of Chief Ministers of States and Chief Justices of High Courts at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 30th April, 2022 at 10 AM. He will also address the gathering on the occasion.
The Joint Conference is an occasion for the executive and the judiciary to come together to create frameworks for simple and convenient delivery of justice and to discuss steps required to overcome the challenges facing the justice system. The previous such conference was held in 2016. Since then, the government has taken various initiatives for improving infrastructure and integration of digital technology in court processes under eCourts Mission Mode Project.

Foreign MBBS holders can't be given provisional registration without clinical training, says Supreme Court (APR 29, 2022)
Foreign MBBS holders can’t be given provisional registration to complete their internship in India without completing the clinical training in physical form, the Supreme Court ruled on Friday.
The ruling came on the NMC’s appeal against a Madras High Court’s order reversing the Tamil Nadu Medical Council’s decision declining provisional registration to some students who had undergone nine semesters of their academic course including clinical training in medical colleges in China. However, due to COVID19 pandemic, the clinical training for Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology and Nuclear Medicine in the 10th Semester was done online and they were granted MBBS degrees.

Guidelines on Compensation of Key Managerial Personnel (KMP) and Senior Management in NBFCs (APR 29, 2022)
A revised Scale Based Regulatory (SBR) framework for NBFCs was put in place vide circular DOR.CRE.REC.No.60/03.10.001/2021-22 October 22, 2021.
- In terms of para 3.2.3 (h) of the said circular, in order to address issues arising out of excessive risk taking caused by misaligned compensation packages, NBFCs are required to put in place a Board approved compensation policy. The policy shall at the minimum include,
- constitution of a Remuneration Committee,
- principles for fixed/ variable pay structures, and
- malus/ clawback provisions.
- Further, in terms of para 3.2.3 (i) it was also decided that the Board of NBFCs should delineate the role of various committees, including Nomination and Remuneration Committee (NRC). It was envisaged that detailed circulars will be issued in due course by the Reserve Bank. Accordingly, these guidelines have now been framed and furnished in Annex.

Sri Lanka Prez Gotabaya Rajapaksa To Form Interim Govt; PM Mahinda Rajapaksa Steps Down (APR 29, 2022)
Sri Lanka’s former president Maithripala Sirisena told reporters in Colombo that beleaguered president Gotabaya Rajapaksa agreed on Friday to form an interim government comprising all the political parties of the island nation. Sirisena also informed that the government will be formed without the participation of prime minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Sirisena also told reporters that the new cabinet will comprise at least 2o members. A National Council will comprise all political parties and decisions will be made after reaching an agreement with the members of the council.
Protests in Sri Lanka continue as the nation faces severe food, fuel, power and medicine shortage due to the ongoing economic crisis. Protesters have taken to the streets pressuring the Rajapaksas to step down. According to a report by news agency Associated Press, Sri Lanka will repay $7 billion in foreign debt this year, and $25 billion by 2026. Its foreign reserves currently stand at less than $1 billion.
