Ministry of Home Affairs under directions of Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah has launched ‘CAPF Punarvaas’ through Welfare & Rehabilitation Board (WARB) (may 7 , 2022 )

With an aim to facilitate retired Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and Assam Rifle personnel to secure employment with private security agencies, the Ministry of Home Affairs under the directions of the Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah has launched ‘CAPF Punarvaas’, through the Welfare & Rehabilitation Board (WARB). 

The portal will help retired personnel seeking re-employment to find an appropriate match by uploading their  personal details on the WARB website along with their area of expertise and preferred employment location. The Ministry of Home Affairs also runs a portal under Private Security Agencies Regulation Act (PSARA) for the registration of Private Security Agencies (PSAs).

Two new judges appointed to Supreme Court ( MAY 7 , 2022 )

Gauhati High Court Chief Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Gujarat High Court Judge Justice Jamshed Burjor Pardiwala have been appointed as judges of the Supreme Court, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju informed on Saturday.  Justice Pardiwala will also be in line to become the Chief Justice of India and will have a tenure of about two years and three months as the top judge of the country.

The Law Minister shared the notification of the Department of Justice on his official Twitter handle.

DELHI HC

Twitter Can Suspend An Account if Majority of the Content Shared is Illegal, Centre Tells Delhi HC (MAY 7, 2022)

The central government has told the Delhi High Court that only if the majority of content shared by a Twitter user is illegal can their account can be suspended by the company. It further said that Significant Social Media Intermediaries (SSMIs) are required to notify the user before taking any action for alleged violations.

An affidavit filed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has reportedly revealed that the platform may take the extreme step of taking down the entire information or suspending the account only if the majority of the content of posts or tweets in a user account is unlawful.  The affidavit was in response to a plea by senior advocate Sanjay Hegde challenging the suspension of his Twitter account.
