Entities allowed to use e-KYC Aadhaar Authentication services of UIDAI in Securities Market as sub-KUA (JUL 20, 2022)

SEBI vide its circular SEBI/HO/MIRSD/DOP/CIR/P/2020/80 dated May 12, 2020 listed the entities who shall undertake Aadhaar Authentication service of UIDAI as KYC user agency (KUA) in securities market. The KUA shall allow SEBI registered intermediaries to undertake Aadhaar Authentication of their clients as sub-KUA for the purpose of KYC.  

The KUAs shall facilitate the onboarding of these entities as sub-KUAs to provide the services of Aadhaar authentication with respect to KYC. 6. 

This circular is issued in exercise of powers conferred under Section 11(1) of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992.

CBIC reduces Special Additional Excise Duty on Petroleum Crude Production & Aviation Turbine Fuel export (JUL 20, 2022)

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5A of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944) read with section 147 of the Finance Act, 2002 (20 of 2002), the Central Government, on being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby exempts the excisable goods of the description specified in column (3) of the Table below :

DELHI HC 

Delhi High Court stays guidelines barring hotels, restaurants from levying service charge (JUL 20, 2022)

Justice Yashwant Varma, while dealing with petitions by the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) and Federation of Hotels and Restaurant Associations of India challenging the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA)’s July 4 guidelines, said the issue requires consideration and directed the authority to file its reply.

Counsel for CCPA told the court that the levy of service charge by restaurants and hotels was an unfair trade practice under the consumer protection law.

Cabinet approves signing of MoU in the field of Judicial Cooperation between Judicial Service Commission of Maldives (jul20, 2022)

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of Judicial Cooperation between India and Judicial Service Commission of the Republic of Maldives.  

This is the eighth MoU signed between India and other countries in the field of Judicial Cooperation.
