In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint, Shri Justice Alok Aradhe, senior-most Judge of the Karnataka High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 03.07.2022 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, Chief Justice, Karnataka High Court.

CCI approves proposed combination involving Google International LLC and Bharti Airtel Limited ( JUNE 30, 2022 )
Google International LLC (Acquirer) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Google LLC, (collectively with all Google LLC subsidiaries, “Google”). Google LLC is a Delaware limited liability company and wholly owned subsidiary of Alphabet Inc.
Bharti Airtel Limited (BAL/ Target), headquartered in India, is an international communications solutions provider with over 480 million customers in 17 countries across South Asia and Africa. BAL’s retail portfolio includes, amongst others, high speed mobile broadband, Airtel Xstream Fiber, streaming services (music and video), digital payments and financial services.
The Acquirer and Target have executed an Investment Agreement (IA) per which the Acquirer proposes to acquire a minority and non-controlling stake of 1.28% of equity share capital in the Target. Along with the IA, the Acquirer and the Target through their affiliates have also entered into certain commercial deals. The Parties also intend to enter into certain other commercial arrangements in future.

Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (2016=100) – May, 2022 ( 30 JUN 2022 )
The Labour Bureau, an attached office of the M/o Labour & Employment, has been compiling Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers every month on the basis of retail prices collected from 317 markets spread over 88 industrially important centres in the country. The index is compiled for 88 centres and All-India and is released on the last working day of succeeding month. The index for the month of May, 2022 is being released in this press release.
The All-India CPI-IW for May, 2022 increased by 1.3 points and stood at 129.0 (one hundred twenty nine points). On 1-month percentage change, it increased by 1.02 per cent with respect to previous month compared to an increase of 0.42 per cent recorded between corresponding months a year ago.
Karnataka HC
Use camera to record manner of arrest: Karnataka high court tells police (June 30, 2022)
The Karnataka high court has awarded a compensation of ₹2 lakhs to an accused who was handcuffed and allegedly paraded by the police. The court has also issued specific guidelines on the grounds for handcuffing a person.
In a June 24 order, a single judge bench of Justice Suraj Govindaraj directed state police chief Praveen Soodto provide body cameras to all officials entitled to arrest a person.
The Judge was pronouncing the verdict in a case relating to a law student, Surpit Ishwar Divate, studying in Shikshan Parasrak Mandal’s Law College in Raibagh.
According to the filings in the court, Divate was returning from an exam when police arrested him in the marketplace of Ankali in Chikkodi taluk of Belagavi district. He was handcuffed, paraded, and taken on a public bus to the Chikkodi police station.
