Centre issues 63 show cause notices to the manufactures/importers of weighing and measuring instruments to seek details of compliance (AUG 30, 2022)

It has been observed that some manufacturers/importers of the weighing & measuring instruments are selling the Person Weighing Machines & Kitchen Scales etc on the e-commerce platforms without complying with the provisions of Law. 

Further the declarations on the pre package/e commerce platform of the weighing & measuring instrument need to comply the provisions (Rule 6) of the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities), Rules 2011.

Companies (Appointment and Qualification of Directors) Third Amendment Rules, 2022. (AUG 29, 2022)

In exercise of the powers conferred under second proviso to sub-section(1), sub-section (4), clause (f) of sub-section (6) of section 149, sub-sections (3) and (4) of section 150, section 151, sub-section (5) of section 152, section 153, section 154, section 157, section 160, sub-section(1) of section 168 and section 170 read with section 469 of the Companies Act, 2013 (18 of 2013), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Companies (Appointment and Qualification of Directors) Rules, 2014.

In the Companies (Appointment and Qualification of Directors) Rules, 2014, in the Annexure, for e-form DIR-3-KYC and web-form DIR-3-KYC-WEB, have been ammended.

Calcutta High Court directs ED to grill TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee's sister-in-law Maneka Gambhir in coal scam (AUG 30, 2022)

Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya directed the central probe agency to quiz Gambhir at its zonal office in Kolkata in September or whenever she is summoned.

Gambhir had challenged the summons by the Enforcement Directorate to appear before it in Delhi in connection with the case and sought direction to the agency to allow her to appear before it in Kolkata, where she claimed she resides.

CCI Approves Acquisition of 7.49% Stake In Aditya Birla Fashion by GIC Affiliate (AUG 30, 2022)

“Commission approves acquisition of approximately 7.49% shareholding in Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited on a fully diluted basis by Caladium Investment Pte. Ltd (GIC Investor) by way of preferential issuance of equity and warrants,” the competition watchdog said in a tweet on Tuesday.

In late May, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL) announced that it will raise up to Rs 2,195 crore from Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC. The board of the Aditya Birla group firm has approved the proposal to raise Rs 2,195 crore by way of preferential issue of equity and warrants to an affiliate of GIC, a joint statement said.
