Fit India to support Inter Ministry, Bar & Bench Badminton Championship in association with Ministry of Law and Justice (SEP 16, 2022)

Setting a new fitness benchmark for all, Fit India Mission will be associating with the Ministry of Law and Justice for a first of its kind Inter Ministry, Bar & Bench Badminton Championship which will see participation from ministers, judges, and lawyers, among others.  

The two-day event will begin on September 17th at Delhi’s Thyagaraj Sports Complex and will be attended by Union Minister of Law and Justice Shri Kiren Rijiju and Union Minister of External Affairs Shri S. Jaishankar and Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Anurag Singh Thakur.

Supreme Court suggests web portal to assist Ukraine-returned medical students (SEP 16,2022)

A Bench of Justices Hemant Gupta and Sudhanshu Dhulia said that there should be a transparent system and the web portal should specify complete details of the fees and the number of seats available in the alternate foreign universities from where they could complete their courses.

The top court was hearing a batch of petitions filed by students, who are undergraduate medical students of first to fourth-year batches in their respective foreign medical colleges/universities, who are primarily seeking transfer to medical colleges in India in their respective semesters.

DELHI HIGH COURT 

Delhi High Court to hear pleas on PM CARES Fund in January next year (SEP 16, 2022)

The Delhi High Court on Friday listed for hearing on 31 January pleas concerning the legal status of the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund) under the Constitution and the Right to Information Act.  

A bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad also granted four weeks’ time to the Centre to file its reply in the matter in terms of an earlier order passed by the court.  

In July, the court had asked the Centre to file a detailed and exhaustive reply on the petition by Samyak Gangwal seeking to declare the PM CARES Fund a ‘State’ under Article 12 of the Constitution to ensure transparency in its functioning.

Chinese loan apps: ED freezes over Rs 46-crore worth funds in Easebuzz, Razorpay, Paytm, Cashfree accounts (SEP 16, 2022)

The Enforcement Directorate on September 16 said it has frozen Rs 46.67 crore worth funds kept in payment gateways Easebuzz, Razorpay, Cashfree and Paytm after it carried out raids this week against Chinese-controlled loan apps and investment tokens. The funds have been frozen under the anti-money laundering law.

The money laundering case stems from an October, 2021 FIR filed by the cyber crime unit of Kohima Police in Nagaland.
