Bar Council of India Uniform Rules (and Mandatory Guidelines) for the Elections of Bar Councils, 2016 (sep 23, 2022)
In recent past the Bar Council of India has noticed some instances of mal-practice in the elections of State Bar Councils. Similar in the case in the elections of member, Bar Council of India also. The Council has been receiving frequent Election Petitions relating to election disputes.
Therefore, the Council , in order to make the elections of State Bar Council fair and transparent, has framed these Uniform Rules for elections of State Bar Council laying down the mandatory guidelines for the conduct of elections of State Bar Councils and also of member, Bar Council of India from the State Bar Councils.

Kerala High Court Takes Suo Motu Case Against PFI for Declaring 'Illegal' Hartal (SEP 23, 2022)
Initiating suo motu case, the court issued directions to the police to ensure adequate measures to prevent any damage or destruction to public and private property of those who do not support the call for hartal.
The high court had on January 7, 2019 made it clear that flash hartals, namely those hartals/strikes called without adhering to the procedure of giving seven days public notice, would be deemed illegal / unconstitutional entailing adverse consequences to the persons/party calling for the hartal.

Govt forms 5-member committee to review pharma marketing practices (SEP 23,2022)
S Aparna, secretary in department of pharmaceuticals (DoP); Rajesh Bhushan, secretary in the ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW); Nitin Gupta, chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT); and a joint secretary (policy) from the department of personnel (DoP) are the four other members of the 'high level' committee. The committee may bring in members from the law department if required, the memorandum said.
It will examine the provisions government departments have to regulate pharmaceutical marketing practices and align interventions for implementation by the healthcare industry. The committee is expected to submit its report in 90 days.
