RBI launches the September 2022 round of the Inflation Expectations Survey of Households (AUG 31, 2022)

The Reserve Bank of India has been regularly conducting Inflation Expectations Survey of Households (IESH). The September 2022 round of the survey is being launched. 

The survey seeks qualitative responses from households on price changes (general prices as well as prices of specific product groups) in the three months ahead as well as in the one year ahead period and quantitative responses on current, three months ahead and one year ahead inflation rates. 

The agency, M/s Hansa Research Group Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai has been engaged to conduct the survey of this round on behalf of the Reserve Bank of India.

Companies (Acceptance of Deposits) Amendment Rules, 2022. (AUG 31, 2022)

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (31) of section 2, section 73 and section 76 read with sub- sections (1) and (2) of section 469 of the Companies Act, 2013 (18 of 2013), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Companies (Acceptance of Deposits) Rules, 2014, namely:-  

In the Companies (Acceptance of Deposits) Rules, 2014,-

  1. in rule 16, after the words ―auditor of the company‖, the words, letters and figure ―and declaration to that effect shall be submitted by the auditor in Form DPT-3‖ shall be inserted; 
  2. in the Annexure, for Form DPT-3 and Form DPT-4, the following shall be substituted.

Companies (Registration of Charges) Second Amendment Rules, 2022. (AUG 31, 2022)

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 77,78, 79,81,82,84,85,87 read with sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 469 of the Companies Act, 2013 (18 of 2013), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Companies (Registration of Charges) Rules, 2014, namely:—

In the Companies (Registration of Charges) Rules, 2014, after rule, 12, the following rule shall be inserted, namely:- 

  1. The Form No.CHG-1, CHG-4, CHG-8 and CHG-9 shall be signed by Insolvency resolution professional or resolution professional or liquidator for companies under resolution or. liquidation, as the case may be and filed with the Registrar. 
  2. In the said rules, for Form No.CHG-1, the following Form shall be substituted.

SUPREME COURT 

Supreme Court tags BCCI as "shop", provisions of ESI Act applicable (AUG 31, 2022)

Supreme Court observed that the activities of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are commercial in nature and can be termed as a "shop" for the purposes of attracting the provisions of the Employees State Insurance Act.

Earlier, the Bombay High Court had stated that BCCI is covered within the meaning of “shop” as per notification dated September 18, 1978, issued by the Government of Maharashtra under the provisions of Section 1(5) of the Employees State Insurance Act, 1948.

PATIALA HOUSE COURT 

Jacqueline Fernandez summoned by Delhi's Patiala House court in ₹200 crore extortion case linked to Sukesh Chandrasekhar (AUG 31, 2022)

As per news agency ANI, on Wednesday morning, the “Patiala House court took cognizance of the supplementary chargesheet filed in the case recently”, directing Jacqueline to appear before it next month. 

The case involves alleged extortion and money laundering by conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. On August 17, the Enforcement Directorate named Jacqueline as an accused in it. The actor was rumoured to be in a relationship with the conman after pictures of the two surfaced online.
