In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Todupunuri Amarnath Goud, senior-most Judge of the Tripura High Court, to perform the duties of the office of Chief Justice of that High Court, with effect from 11.11.2022, consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Indrajit Mahanty, Chief Justice, Tripura High Court.

Fugitive Nirav Modi loses appeal as UK High Court orders his extradition to India
In a fresh setback to fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi, the High Court in London, on Wednesday, ordered his extradition to India to face the charges of fraud and money laundering in the nearly $2-billion Punjab National Bank (PNB) letters of undertaking (LoU) scam perpetrated by him and his firms over several years.
Modi, 51, who remains behind bars at Wandsworth prison in south-east London, had appealed before the High Court in London against being sent back to India to face trial in the massive fraud case.

Meta to cut more than 11,000 jobs in one of the biggest layoffs this year
Meta Platforms Inc said on Wednesday it will let go of 13% of its workforce, or more than 11,000 employees, in one of the biggest layoffs this year as the Facebook parent battles soaring costs and a weak advertising market.
The pandemic-led boom that boosted tech companies and their valuations has turned into a bust this year in the face of decades-high inflation and rapidly rising interest rates.

Extradition is an action wherein one jurisdiction delivers a person accused or convicted of committing a crime in another jurisdiction, over to the other's law enforcement.
In addition to legal aspects of the process, extradition also involves the physical transfer of custody of the person being extradited to the legal authority of the requesting jurisdiction.
