Vide notifications dated 06.12.2022, in exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President, is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Tashi Rabstan, senior-most Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, with effect from 08.12.2022 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Ali Mohd Magrey, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

Delhi high court allows woman to terminate 33-week pregnancy (DEC 6, 2022)

The woman approached the high court to seek medical termination of pregnancy at 33 weeks on account of cerebral abnormalities in the foetus. According to the Medical Termination Pregnancy (MTP) Act, medical termination of pregnancy is allowed only till 24 weeks.

The high court earlier constituted a medical board at the Lok Nayak Jaiprakash hospital to make an assessment of the abnormalities.

Airtel, Meta Team Up To Bring World’s Largest Subsea Cable To India (DEC 6, 2022)

Airtel, Meta and STC have joined hands to ‘strengthen the digital ecosystem of India’, by extending 2Aftrica Pearls, the world’s largest subsea cable system, to India, reveals a report by GadgetsNow. Airtel and Meta are members of the Telecom Infra Project and Open RAN project group and possess a common goal of increasing ecosystem diversity, driving innovation and cost efficiency across networks. 

Airtel is also working on integrating WhatsApp within Airtel IQ -- the world’s first network-embedded comms platform as a service.

Indonesian parliament passes new criminal code, bans sex outside marriage (DEC 6, 2022)

Indonesia's parliament has approved a legislation that criminalizes extramarital sex for citizens and visiting foreigners, a move critics deemed as a setback to the country's freedoms. A revision of Indonesia's criminal code, which stretches back to the Dutch colonial era, has been debated for decades.Some of the most controversial articles in the newly passed code criminalise extra-marital sex, as well as the cohabitation of unmarried couples.

The article on extra-marital sex has been criticised by Indonesian business organisations as detrimental to tourism, though authorities insisted foreigners travelling to Bali would not be affected.
