IBBI Chairperson launches 5th Graduate Insolvency Programme (GIP) Common Entrance Test Process (06 FEB 2023)

Shri Ravi Mital, Chairperson, IBBI in the presence of Shri Praveen Kumar, Director General and CEO, IICA at New Delhi today launched the process of Common Entrance Test (CET) and also released the Prospectus for admission to the 5th Graduate Insolvency Programme (GIP) for the batch of 2023-25. 

This course reduces the time period to become Insolvency Professionals from 10 years for industry professionals to 2 years for the GIP students.

Postgraduate doctors cannot refuse to serve in primary healthcare centres across the State during bond period, says High Court (FEB 6, 2023)

Dismissing a batch of writ petitions filed by 19 doctors against the postings offered to them in various PHCs across the State.

Those who pursue postgraduate medical education on the State’s dime after agreeing to serve in government healthcare institutions for a period of two years pursuant to their studies cannot turn a volte face and claim that they will only serve in hospitals with better facilities and not in primary healthcare centres (PHCs), the Madras High Court said.

Devas-Antrix dispute: Netherlands top court refuses to overturn $111.3 million award against India (FEB 6, 2023)

The Supreme Court of Netherlands refused to overturn $111.3 million arbitral award levied by the District Court of Hague, finding the Indian government liable for improperly terminating the Devas-Antrix deal in 2011.

The Dutch Supreme Court did not provide its reasoning for its decision favouring the shareholders of Devas Multimedia Pvt Ltd, saying only that it had considered and rejected India’s arguments — among them, that the shareholders had not made an investment that qualified for protection under the relevant investment treaty.
