Recently, on 20.09.2024, the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in a 3-Judge Bench, headed by Hon'ble Justice Dr. D. Y. Chandrachud, Hon'ble Chief Justice of India along with Hon'ble Mr. Justice J. B. Pardiwala and Hon'ble Mr. Justice Manoj Misra, while hearing the case titled Nilay Kumar v. Bar Council of India [WP(C) 000577 of 2024], passed an Interim Order, wherein, the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India has allowed final-year law students to appear in the upcoming All India Bar Examination (AIBE), which is scheduled for 24th November 2024.

The Hon'ble Supreme Court of India passed the above mentioned Interim Order while hearing a Petition, wherein, the decision of Bar Council of India was  challenged to the extent that it should exclude final year law students from registering for All India Bar Examination.

At this stage, it is pertinent to mention and note that earlier in 2023, a 5-Judge Bench of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in the case titled Bar Council of India v. Bonnie Foi Law College [Civil Appeal 969 of 2023], had suggested that final-year law students could be allowed to take All India Bar Examination.
